In summer 2014, I created “Myrzilka Art Group” in Donetsk. Acting under the name of the group, I was placing my artworks satirizing the gunmen of the “donetsk national republic” on streets of the occupied city. The Russian special services tracked me down and I ended up in torture camps, where I went through numerous tortures, beatings and staged executions. The events and experiences of those days were drawn and published in my graphic novel “The Hole”. The book was presented at the annual Frankfurt Book Festival in Germany in 2016, at the International Book Festival at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kyiv, Ukraine the same year, in many cities of Ukraine, as well as in Tallinn, Estonia in February 2021. The book has been translated into 8 languages so far.
I am the Consul of the Republic of Užupis in Donetsk (in exile).
